To whom this may concern,
I hope you are well. I am contacting you in relation to a project I am carrying out as part of a funded PhD programme within the School of Education, University College Dublin. The project is funded by the Norwegian Research Council as an international collaboration with Norway, The Faroe Islands, Cyprus and Tasmania. We are looking at generational changes occurring within coastal communities and I am responsible for the Irish strand of the project.
What we are primarily interested in are changes within mainstream education and local knowledge/skills, identity and attachment to place.
I have been carrying out the project within the Inishowen Peninsula throughout the last year. This has involved doing interviews with families of three living generations (grandparent, parent and youth).
I am hoping that you could possibly put me in touch with some families with a young person who has left school early and may be taking an alternative educational path. I feel that speaking to young people in this position is important to gain a more in depth knowledge of the educational experience of young people.
Please let me know if this is something that you think you may be able to facilitate me with. I would hugely appreciate any suggestions and possible contacts you may have.
Thank you kindly for taking the time to read this e-mail. I really hope to hear from you soon, ... See MoreSee Less
