Entry costs are €20 per family and €10 per adult, but please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult. Proceeds raised from this year’s event will go towards the running and upkeep of Spraoi agus Spórt’s disability bus, which supports inclusive services and activities across the community.

Prizes will be awarded on the night for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place across men’s, women’s and children’s categories.

Celebrating Another Successful Couch to 5K Programme

“This event is always a brilliant way for families and friends to get active together,” says organiser Mary McWeeney. “It’s also the final celebration for our Couch to 5K programme participants, who have been training hard over recent weeks.”

The annual event has become a major community occasion in Carndonagh, attracting walkers, runners and supporters of all ages. Organisers are expecting another strong turnout this year as more local people embrace fitness, wellbeing and community participation.

The 5K route will begin at the Garden Centre, continue through Carndonagh, and finish in the Diamond. Participants can choose to walk, jog or run the course at their own pace.

A Community Event with Heart

Mary says the atmosphere on the night is always special. “People love the encouragement, the sense of achievement and the community spirit. It’s a really positive evening for everyone involved, and we’re looking forward to welcoming people back again this year.”

The event also celebrates the achievements of those taking part in the Couch to 5K programme, which supports people of all fitness levels to gradually build confidence and improve their health and wellbeing.

“Couch to 5K is designed for everyone — teenagers, adults and older people alike. Whether you walk, jog or run, it’s about taking part and feeling good,” Mary added.

Supporting Inclusion in Carndonagh

The Fun Run/Walk plays an important role in supporting Spraoi agus Spórt’s inclusive initiatives and services throughout the community.

“Every euro raised helps support our disability transport service, ensuring children, young people and adults can continue accessing activities, camps and programmes safely and comfortably,” said Mary. “Inclusion remains at the heart of everything we do.”

Spraoi agus Spórt also acknowledged and thanked this year’s event sponsors and supporters, including Age & Opportunity, Donegal Sports Partnership and Cllr Martin McDermott for their valued support.
