WHO CAN APPLY?
Supporting people of all ages with disabilities
The Slí WorkAbility Programme supports people age 16 and over who identify as having a disability. Slí aims to support individuals on their path to employment through education, training, and professional development.
Slí participants will undergo an assessment of their skills and interests, and a personalised, progression plan will be created to guide their progress. Each participant will have access to a range of workshops and classes to upskill or learn new skills. They will also be supported in gaining employment, work experience, or volunteer placements that suit their long-term goals.
Spraoi agus Spórt will be delivering the Slí WorkAbility Programme over five years from 2024 – 2029.

- 6-week course

Sewing & Textiles
- 8-week course
- Learn sewing, knitting and crocheting
- Make, repair, and update clothes
- Get creative and socialise!
POTTERY
- 10-week course
- Build confidence and meet new people in a friendly environment
- Create your own clay ornaments at your own pace, including making glazing, and painting.

Helping Local Employers Find the Right Person for the Job
Our Process:
When participants seek help in gaining employment, we begin by creating a personalised plan that identifies their skills, abilities, work interests, and any necessary accommodations. We ensure our participants can make a valuable contribution to your organisation, understanding the importance of hiring the right person for both employer and employee success.
How We Can Help:
If you have a job opening, contact us with a job description and we will take care of the rest. We select suitable candidates and present their CVs to you. If you wish to interview them, we can arrange it. Should the interview be successful, we provide on-going support as is needed.
Reviewing CVs without finding a suitable candidate is perfectly fine. There is no pressure or obligation, and we prioritise the right fit for your organisation.
Reduce Recruitment Costs:
Our recruitment service is free for employers, reducing your advertising costs and saving valuable time in the selection process.
Wage Subsidy Scheme (WSS):
The WSS, provided by the Department of Social Protection, offers financial incentives for employers to hire individuals with a disability who work between 15-39 hours a week. The subsidy rate is €6.30 per hour, based on hours worked, and employees under WSS are subject to the same employment conditions as others.
This scheme is set to be improved and updated in January 2025.
Work and Access Scheme:
Work and Access is a set of supports to help people with a disability get a job or stay in work. The supports aim to remove or reduce barriers in the workplace for people with a disability.
Work and Access employer supports include:
- Workplace Needs Assessment, to assist in identifying employees need for additional supports
- Workplace Adaptation, to accommodate additional employee needs
- Disability Equality and Inclusion Training, to provide employers and organisations with access to training for staff, to gain a better awareness and understanding of disabilities in the workplace

I would recommend the WorkAbility Programme to anyone living in Inishowen. The programme provides the skills you would need to get back to work after being unemployed for a long time. It also gets people involved in activities going on locally. It is open to anyone with a disability and the environment is safe and supportive with friendly staff.
